体長1.5〜2 mmの小型種で体色は黄色。頭部は正面から見て4角形で，ほぼ長さと幅が等しい。大あごには大きな4歯を持ち，いずれも先端は尖る。触角は10節からなり，触角柄節は短く頭部後縁に達しない。眼は1個の個眼からなる。側方から見て前胸から中胸にかけての胸部背縁と，前伸腹節のそれぞれは弧をえがく。腹柄節はやや厚い3角形。
Rhizomyrma 亜属に含まれる。八重山諸島のみから知られ照葉樹林の林床に生息するが，ややまれ。
