解 説

|
体長3.5〜4 mmで，日本産本属のものとしては最も大型。体色は黒色。テラニシハリアリ，ヤクシマハリアリに似るが，複眼が大きく20個以上の個眼からなること，腹柄節後面は凹まず直線状であることで区別される。
照葉樹林等の林床部に生息し，土中に分布する。屋久島では8月中旬に新女王が見られた。ややまれ。
