解 説
|
|
黄色から黒色の中型から小型のアリで複眼は小さい。大あごの歯は先端部で3〜4個，それに続いて数個の小歯がある。大あごの基部背側面に小孔はない。中脚と後脚の脛節に1本のくし歯状の脛節刺がある。中脚脛節外面に頑強な剛毛はない。腹柄節下部突起の前方部には透ける“窓”（光が透過できる小孔）があり，後端には通常1対の刺状の小突起がある。
ニセハリアリ属（Hypoponera）との区別が難しい場合があるが，日本産種の幼虫の背部には，きのこ（ドアノブ）状の突起が３対ある点や（ニセハリアリは4対），PF＝2，2である点で区別される。
インド・オーストラリア区を中心に分布し，世界で約30種ほどが記載されている。石下，腐倒木，土中に営巣する。日本では8種が生息する。
