Description
|
|
Species in the subgenus Chthanolasius are yellow colored in workers. Maxillary palpi are short, not reaching the neck. Petiolar spiracles are present at lower portion of petiolar scale.
|
Remarks
|
|
These are temporary social parasites of other Lasius species. Some species cannot be distinguished by external worker morphology alone. They are terrestrial.
Three species are known from Japan as follows: L. hikosanus, L. meridionalis, L. umbratus.
