A single ant is vulnerable

If alone, a large-sized ant can be snached as food by a swarm of small ants. The ant also has larger enemies. Bears can destroy an anthill of Formica yessensis and eat the ants climing up its forelegs.

The ant lion sucks up the body fluid of an ant after dragging the ant down to the bottom of the predator's trap into which the ant has fallen.
