Description

|
Body slender. Anterior portion of clypeus steeply raised, forming a more or less angulate corner in profile; anterior margin often with teeth. Petiole and postpetiole rounded.

Remarks
|
|
Tetraponera includes about 110 described species and subspecies. Ward (2001) published a taxonomic revision of the Oriental and Australian regions, recognizing 33 species. Nests are found in trees, often in hollow twigs. Workers forage arboreally or on the ground. The Genus is represented in Japan by a single nomenclaturally undetermined species. The Genus in Japan is represented only by a single dealated female of T. attenuata F. Smith collected on Okinawa.
