Description
|
|
Medium sized ants. Eyes large. Antennae 11-segmented; scapes long, far exceeding posterior margin of head, each funicular segment longer than wide. Labial and maxillary palpi elongate, palpal formula 6:4. Metanotum obscure, metanotal groove absent. Propodeum and petiole lacking spines or teeth.

Remarks
|
|
To date 22 species of Anoplolepis have been described from the Old-World tropics, mostly from Africa. Anoplolepis gracilipes (formerly widely discussed as A. longipes) alone has been recorded from Japan and Southeast Asia.
