Description

Total length of workers around 2 mm. Body color brown. Very similar to S. lewisi and Strumigenys sp. 4 [Kita-uroko-ari]; the workers difficult to distinguish. Dorsal portion of postpetiole surrounded by spongiform appendage relatively long compared to that of S. lewisi.

Remarks
|
|
The females of this species are separable from S. lewisi and Strumigenys sp. 4 by the following combination of characters: mesonotum thick (thin in S. lewisi); posterior paired ocelli small and indistinct (larger and more distinct in S. sp. 4). This taxon corresponds to Strumigenys sp. A of Onoyama (1976). Nests under stones or decayed wood in woodland.
